Hey!
I'd recommend having the director work with you. While I'm not the expert in music and vocal technique others are on here, what I can tell you is that collaboration can really be powerful. My manager was concerned I wasn't moving as fast as the others on the team, and with the help of an employee, we discovered things Jaws wasn't pointing out in a way that would have been helpful to me in navigating. While we can learn the same things, we sometimes have to get the messages differently as we're nonvisual in many ways as blind people. My point is that if you work with the director, he/she may learn/see what you're struggling with, and may have a creative way to help you that no one has thought of yet. It could be really empowering and educational for both of you if director is willing, so I'd try that first. Sometimes it's just everyone getting on the same page.
Thank you all for coming to my ted talk, although it's more like a David talk lol.

Subject: [Perform-Talk] Vocal masterclass update
Hello,
Just wanted to reach out to let everyone know that the class went well. My friend was able to help fill in the verbal descriptions. However, I still can't master correct breathing. Our director is really emphasizing this and we are expected to use it at all times during rehearsal and warm-ups. I've tried everything ′lying down, bending over at the waist while inhaling, standing or sitting up as straight as possible with one hand on my chest and the other on my stomach′, but nothing works. All it does is result in my stomach muscles locking up and I can't get a good inhale. Therefore, do you think it would be rasonable for me to ask to be exempt from that since I simply cannot perform what the director is asking for or should I talk to her again and see if she can spend a little one on one time with me to see if we can figure out why I'm having such a hard time with this. I even tried feeling someone else do it and that did not help either, so I think i'm just incapable of doing this.
