Greetings All,

I have just learned which rooms and how many I will be able to secure to
fill with work shops for parents and children during our annual conference
and convention July 3 through 8th, 209. I am so excited to fill them and to
empower families to raise their children to their fullest potentials! I am
in need of teachers willing to give presentations on topics for parents who
are sorely in need of it. I also am in need of teachers willing to help
students in small groups individually in some of the kid workshops-I have
presenters for these student workshops but there will be enough children so
we will need extra knowledgeable hands and minds-smile.

Please email me off list privately if you will be at convention in Detroit
already and are willing to help make our parents and kids empowered in some
way through our conference.

I need teachers for:

July 3 10:30-noon, Braille Carnival with students

July 4th-2-5 pm with students

July 4th- willing to present a parent workshop on being "back to School"
ready for fall in a pro-active way (will discuss in detail off list with
interested persons) Saturday afternoon

I especially need those interested, passionate about, and skilled in:

Early childhood-especially including knowledge of parent/teacher rights and
responsibilities in the IDEA-how to get early service

O and M (cane walk Saturday morning)

Braille Music (Friday afternoon likely)

Tactile graphics, maps, and teaching/learning to explore with the sense of
touch in a way that makes sense

Math adaptations (k-12) low tech, high tech-nemeth and abacus and all of it

Teaching Basic Braille and why they should know it, and where to get it to
parents who do not know Braille

The presentation times for these workshop ideas I am drafting vary from
Saturday morning until Monday Evening>

Your expertise and passion are greatly appreciated!

Remember to reply off list-smile.
