How true!
My 14 y/o has had to wear sunglasses for much of the last year due to
surgeries, eye sensitivities, conformer problems & such. He also in middle
school tended to be on his BrailleNote a lot in between classes.
We had a long talk with him & encouraged him to not be on the BrailleNote or
phone during school downtime with the idea that if he did not appear "busy"
he would appear to be more open to other kids coming up to him or could
focus on conversations around him that he might want to join. His eyes have
settled down & his temporary conformer isn't bothering him this last week,
so he hasn't been wearing the sunglasses.
He commented this weekend & again last night how he has notices a huge
difference without the sunglasses in that lots of kids are coming up &
talking to him spontaneously.
