The National Braille Association (NBA) invites you to join us for this
fall's Professional Development Conference.  The conference kicks-off on
Thursday, October 25, at 8:30 a.m. with the first of six workshop
sessions.  The workshops provide opportunities for networking and
refreshing skills, learning more efficient methods to do our work, and
discussing our unique skills with others working in the same field. All
aspects of braille transcription will be covered including mathematics,
music, textbooks, tactile graphics, and more.

Our host hotel is The St. Anthony Riverwalk Wyndham Hotel. Reservations
should be made on or before September 27, 2012, to receive our special
room rate of $119.00 per night.  Call 210-227-4392 to make your

Although the conference officially begins on Thursday, we hope you'll
consider joining us a day early for the group tour.  We will be spending
the evening aboard a river barge where we will enjoy a nice meal and a
great view of the city of San Antonio.

Workshops fill up quickly, and some are limited in the number of
participants who may attend. We encourage you to pre-register for
workshops before October 5, 2012, to be assured of your first choices
and personal copies of the workshop materials. Braille and large print
materials are prepared for those who need them only when they are
registered by September 21, 2012. The Registration Desk opens Thursday,
October 25, 2012, at 7:00 A.M.

When registering for the conference, you have the option to eat on your
own or to select the meal package.  We would really like to have
everyone with us for the meals.  Eating together provides an opportunity
for networking that is not possible from within the constraints of the
classroom.  Many transcribers learn of job opportunities while talking
to others over a meal, in addition to the chance to make new friends.

NBA is excited to be offering a one-day session on Saturday, October 27,
designed specifically for educators (TB-VI Event).  If you are
registering for this one-day event, lunch is included in the cost of
registration.
