re: self employed tv
i I just want to add to what Gail indicated a tvi teaches. The certified teacher of the blind and visually impaired teaches blind and visually impaired students without additional disabilities 1. core curriculum which are all academics subjects that blind, visually impaired and sighted students learn in the class. 2. AA certified teacher of the blind and visually impaired (TVI) teaches blind and visually impaired teaches blind and visually impaired students skills included in the expanded core curriculum which include: braiile, visual efficiency skills, assistive technology, independent living skills, advocacy skills, organizational skills, social skills, recreational and leisure skills, career developmen, tlistening skills, signature writing skills, physical education etc. Each state has programs to become a certified teacher of the blind and visually impaired baut each teacher university course sequence and license requirements may differ. You may teach in the state you reside with a license as a certified teacher of the blind and visually impaire from the state you reside in and upon applying for a tvi license and you successfully receive a tvi license in the state where you reside in yo may teach as a tvi in the state you reside in.. There is no reciprocity between states if you decide to move to another state to teach. From my understanding, if yoare a licensed tvi from another state you may be able to teach for a specific time butt you still get certified to teaching the state a tvi decides teach in. I don't think I'll be able to attend the convention do to money issues either. However, I have benefitted greatly from being on this list.
