Hi David/others,

Yes, the NRMA has been thoroughly pilot tested three separate times now and we have the reliability and validity established to substantiate the efficacy of this tool in accurately identifying the reading media needs of youth with visual impairments.

For the convenience of practicing TVI/TBS, as well as our desire to continue refining the tool and correcting data on its use, the NRMA is being released in an online, interactive format. This is being done currently and we hope to have ready for release at the national convention in Dallas, by the first of the school year for certain.

I am not currently aware of any scheduled presentations, but I will be sure to let you know if there are any.

You can reach me at the following information if I can provide any further details.

  Hi Dave et al,

I am copying Dr. Edward Bell at Louisiana tech University, as the Institute on Blindness there spearheaded the development of the National Reading Media Assessment (NRMA). I'm not sure if similar meetings will be held this year, but at last year's national convention, several breakout sessions were dedicated to the discussion of this newly rolled-out tool. Dr. Bel can best advise the list about how to access the NRMA and employ it with your students.

  Thanks.

Several years ago, the NFB was working on a learning media assessment kit. Does anyone know if we ever finished it or if it is available? If you wish you can respond off list.
