<DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS">My husband is blind and has worked as a Disability Support Services (DSS) Coordinator at a local community college. When he was in college, there were no braille math books available, but now if your student goes to the right college there is a better chance. Here in New York State, for example, we have Chapter 219 of the laws of 2003 (see attached), sponsored by Governor Patterson while he was still a Senator. There is a national listserv for DSS folks that helps them obtain textbooks in alternative formats (including braille) in a timely manner. It may take a little research to locate the college with the best braille support that also has the program of study in which the student is interested, but it may be worth the extra effort. Advocating for braille really is the best way to go for a braille reader studying math. "Go get 'em," and Good luck!</FONT></DIV>
