<div style="RIGHT: auto"><SPAN style="RIGHT: auto">I have played around with it. I have scanned an image, but having problems getting the poem to Duxbury. So, I used Duxbury and typed it in contracted braille. I was able to print it. However, I want to skip the hand typing...time consuming....an just emboss. Also, I have also, in the past, copied a document to Duxbury. But, it only comes out in grade 1. Is there a way to have something transcribes into contracted braille.</SPAN></div>

<div style="RIGHT: auto"><SPAN style="RIGHT: auto">I am familiar with a lot of other resources that you have mentioned. I am legally blind myself. I am able to read print when it is very large. I use Zoomtext with my computer. I have also used JAWS, but not often. My student is in 3rd grade and is already a grade 2 braille reader. He is a consumer of NLS. I will be working on memberships for other sources such as Bookshare. </SPAN></div>

<div style="RIGHT: auto"><SPAN style="RIGHT: auto">Thank you for all your other advice. I will use them. I have been employed by the current district that I work with this child for 23 years as a special education teacher. This is my first as a TVI, as I just got certified. I am hoping that the district will be more open to his needs and allow me the time and resources to help the student with his education and have access to all that he needs concurrently with his peers.</SPAN></div>

<DIV><SPAN>Joanne,</SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN>You need to check on bookshare.org first as many of his books may already be there. NIMAC.us is another major book source. You and he need to get signed up ASAP with bookshare</SPAN></DIV>
<DIV><SPAN>You need duxbury as a braille translation program, so when you download these books, you open them with duxbury and can emboss them out. Teach him JAWS talking software and computer skills--WORD, Internet so he can read from the braille and type out his work. If he is older than 3rd grade, he should be emailing all his work to the teacher. Gmail with basic html is one of the best emails out there, so get signed up with that too. That way he can eliminate someone having to read him work if it is through the technology and he can complete the work quickly</SPAN></DIV>
<DIV>If you want him to scan, you need a scaning program to go with that epson scanner..Openbook or Kurzweil are both good.</DIV>
<DIV>Romeo is pretty straight forward and you can download a manual from the Internet to help you operate it.</DIV>

<DIV>Hello to all,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>I am a new TVI, just starting with my first student today. He needs much of his work scanned/brailled. I have not yet learned these pieces (EPSON scanner/ROMEO PRO 50)<VAR id=yiv800169571yui-ie-cursor></VAR> of equipment. So, I am looking for quick easy to follow steps so that he gets his work right away. I am hoping to save many hours by having some one send me a list of steps to follow. Thank you very much.</DIV>
