I am a firm believer in the earlier the better for touch-typing. I was<br>taught to touch-type as a sighted student in the 3rd grade, and when I<br>moved to another school, they continued to teach me how to touch-type<br>and reinforced it by having us do work (in 4th grade, mind you) on the<br>computer...at first, it was just games that reinforced good typing,<br>math, and reading skills, but in later grades, we started doing<br>worksheets and homework on the computer. These days, I can type up to<br>80 WPM and am an excellent user of hot keys (I taught myself many of<br>them, then got advanced training at the state rehab center). I am very<br>grateful for my early education in touch-typing (not as early as the<br>girl noted!), as it means I can type my notes in class at the same<br>speed that everyone else writes them, as well as journal entries for<br>English class and potentially math problems (I'm working on this one).<br><br><br>Early education in
