<dd>What is a slate and stylus? What can it do that other braille writing
equipment can’t? Is the slate and stylus still a viable braille writing
tool? If so, when should my student begin to learn to use it? What are
some strategies for teaching it? What are the different kinds of slates
and styluses available today and from where? These are just a few of the
questions that will be discussed in this interactive seminar.<br><br>
<dd>Join Seminars@Hadley as Hadley braille instructors Sue Melrose, a
lifetime user of the slate and stylus, and Nafisa Keels, a TVI, present
on the timelessness of the slate and stylus.<br>
<dd>This 90 minute seminar will be moderated by Hadley’s Dean of
Educational Programs and Instruction Doug Anzolvar. Please bring a slate
and stylus to the seminar. A question and answer session will be
included as part of the seminar.<br>

<dd>As always, listening to the seminar remains free of charge. There is
a US $25 fee associated with completing the

seminar for credit (1.5 CE hours)</a>. Professionals interested in
receiving continuing education credit will be required to successfully
complete a quiz and brief survey before a certificate is issued. (ACVREP

<dd>Hadley's new course "Low Vision and School-Age
Children"</b> is available online and in large print. It offers an
overview of the fundamentals of low vision and children for parents,
classroom teachers, paraeducators, classroom aides and medical
professionals who work with students with low vision. This courses offers
strategies for helping students with low vision succeed in school. This
course is open to students in Hadley’s Professional Studies
