Hi All,<div>Thanks for your suggestions. We had a great session today. </div><div><br></div><div>1. Using the Apex as a braille display we were able to open "Brave New World" & "Siddhartha" in iBooks & able to read the first page on the Braille display with the voice muted. However, we can't figure out how to advance to the next page using the Braille display - the "O" chord opens up the BrailleNote Options Menu. </div>
<div>Suggestions?</div><div><br></div><div>2. We were able to open up a txt worksheet in a Spanish class shared DropBox folder on the iPad. We then imported it into Pages & able to edit in there (to get iPad to recognize the Spanish letters, we had to change language rotor to Spanish setting). One glitch however - we can't figure out how to capitalize in Pages using the Apex as a braille display in Spanish or English. Suggestions? </div>

language, (such as if the 10<sup>th</sup> grader is in a Spanish class, you will want language in the rotor. Volume is always helpful to me, but that depends on the setting the students are using it in, and as for most of the others, VoiceOver is fairly good
at clearing out the unusable ones, so that only the context-relevant ones are available. i.e. Headings mostly show up in apps like Newsline, or Safari, where they are used as markup. So, other than possibly volume or language, I would leave it at defaults
unless there is something that is particularly causing trouble. <u></u><u></u></span></p>

</span></span></span><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1f497d">If the iBooks are reading in VoiceOver, they will read in Braille. At this time some of the textbooks are not marked up well to read correctly in
VoiceOver, particularly math and science texts where they are not using proper markup (and are often using images) to convey formulas. Apple does not appear to support reading advanced math and science symbols in VO at this time from what I have seen in my
testing. Either that, or absolutely no one has marked up this material correctly. I cannot be sure of which. Have you set up Braille to work with Bluetooth already? If so, the only thing that you need to know about iBooks and Braille that I can think
of, is that at the end of each page the user has to do and “O” chord to move to the next page, and read past all the controls at the top of the page. It’s been a while since I have tested this, I prefer reading in other book apps if I am reading in Braille,
so I haven’t been buying or using iBooks much. They may have fixed this since I last used it.

it, and doesn’t allow most apps that allow a user to change settings. On/Off allows a user to turn Bluetooth on and off, but that is the only exception I’ve seen to this rule. It doesn’t allow for any configuration either, just turning it on or off.
