We all have done it at least once. At least you didn't say anything
mean!

Well, I was just as startled as you all must have been to see this
message
in my mailbox! I'm not sure how, but I obviously sent my reply to the
wrong
recipient. For those who read it all the way through trying to
determine
its relevance to the promotion and evaluation of technology, you now
know
more than you could ever have wanted to know about the inner workings
of our
local historical society. If you really want to come to the banquet,
you
need to make a reservation!

Sorry for the unintended intrusion.

Ed

Pam,

If you believe it would add an appropriate touch to the occasion to
have a
printed agenda at each place, it's fine with me. If we do so, it might
be
good to wait for confirmation on who will handle a couple of items.
For
example, in order to recognize the History Hero, we probably need to
get
from Frank the statement that was presented on History Day, and perhaps
you
or Nancy could present it.

Also, we have always followed the memorial ceremony with a
prayer/invocation. I am open to suggestions for anyone we might ask
in
advance to do that.

In the interest of saving paper, it might also be good to wait for an
approximate count of reservations in order to know how many copies we
will
need.

I suppose I can't hand off the "State of the Society" report to
someone
else, but I am real glad you're handling the Order of Crozet!

I am really not too worried about putting the program together. While
I
certainly do not intend to let it drag, the fact that we do not have a
featured speaker seems to allow for a little more informality. Of
course,
at the rate things are going, we might not have more than a dozen
people
present.

Speaking of which . . . I'd better dash off the meeting reminder to
the
membership.

Still no word from Rob Woy, but I'll work on that this evening.

Thanks for all of the help.

Ed

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM HUMANWARE
Longueil, Quebec, May 27, 2009 - HumanWare is now shipping the new
SmartView Versa and Versa+ handheld electronic magnifiers. These two
new additions to HumanWare's low vision product line have large 4.3"
wide screens, 5x to 15x magnification and multiple enhanced contrast
modes to make reading easier.

The SmartView Versa and Versa + were instant hits when they were
unveiled at the CSUN conference last March. In fact, several clients
had already placed their orders and were waiting for them to become
available.

People suffering from low vision due to macular degeneration,
glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy or another eye condition can use the
SmartView Versa to magnify words and images. The portable device can
be carried anywhere to enlarge text in newspapers and magazines, on
pill bottles and food packaging, or anywhere things are too small to
read.

Highly portable, the Versa and Versa+ provide access to a wide array
of content, thereby limiting the need for cumbersome large print
documents. There are also numerous features that can be applied in a
school setting: facilitate access to audio learning, learning through
video in class and at home, increase in-class attention and act as a
study aid, provide library of study materials and notes.

Two models are available. The Versa is lightweight with a flip out
handle and provides clear undistorted magnification. The Versa+ has
all the basic magnification functions as well as the ability to save
pictures, make voice recordings, listen to music and watch videos.
The SmartView Versa+ transcends the definition of a handheld
electronic magnifier with the addition of these unique multimedia
features.

The SmartView Versa+ uses a standard SD memory card to save images
captured with the magnifier or store music and video files
transferred from a computer. Saved images can be viewed on the Versa+
in full color. You can easily zoom in the image or pan around the
image to find the details that interest you.
