Good afternoon Ed, 
I wouldn't worry about notebook specs unless you have a device with any version of windows lower than XP and less than 2GB of ram. One other point to consider when dealing with the latest and greatest in terms of software is to make sure that you are running on the latest version of your preferred screenreader.
