[Promotion-technology] Reliability of Orbit reader

Hi,

There was a reliability issue some months ago, with units that had stuck dots (either up or down). The problem appears to have been traced to a parts supplier, and so the part was sourced from a different place.

I’m also on a replacement. Actually, my second, because I gambled with a replacement from the lot that had the possibly defective part and, after a few good months, lost. My current unit, from the later batches, is faring much better, and the braille on these is second to none in quality. It’s noisier than more expensive displays, but it’s also less than $500.
