Sharing the facts and data is one of the reasons I participate. When we are all on the same page, consensus is possible.

There was never a question of 'trival' as spending $900 from our family budget is not not what we consider a trivial expense. But it was justified by personal experience, quality hard data reports and analysis.
I was trying to point out the report DOT HS 811 204, September 2009 uses thin data followed by claims that there is a doubling of risk from turning and backing. The statistical data is so thin that if more is gathered, there is a real risk the results might be different ... even reversed. But if you' all call for more data, that works for me too.
