[Quietcars] quiet buses

The Head of the Department of Buses in New York City, during his September 22nd presentation to the Transit Riders  Council, responded to my inquiry by stating that his system has 1,600 hybrid electric buses on the street now.  To my follow-up comment, he also acknowledged that there has been an "uptick" in bus-pedestrian accidents with those  vehicles.  The only remedy taken thus far though, has been to modify the very rapid acceleration characteristic of a bus operating on electric power.  I wonder what we know about accident data for quiet buses in other places?
