POSITION SUMMARY
Disability Policy & Studies at the University of Missouri is seeking a Visiting Instructor to
provide technical assistance and continuing education. This position is responsible for
providing technical assistance and continuing education services to state vocational
rehabilitation agencies, community rehabilitation programs, independent living programs
and other partners. This position will require the candidate to design and implement
technical assistance and skills training programs to assist state vocational rehabilitation
agencies and their community partners to increase successful community employment
outcomes for individuals with disabilities. The right candidate will posses excellent
facilitation and training skills, as well as, the ability to support organizations in designing and
implementing effective change strategies to improve performance. Current projects for our
organization include the federally sponsored Technical Assistance and Continuing Education
Center (TACE Center), CRP-RCEP, and Regional Training and Technical Assistance Social
Security Benefits Planning Center. This is a grant funded position and continued
employment is subject to future grant awards.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:
* Provide state vocational rehabilitation agencies and their partners with technical
assistance that will support increased successful employment outcomes for persons
with disabilities
* Development and delivery of highly effective and engaging training and skills
development programs that increase the organizational effectiveness and improve
performance related to increasing community employment opportunities for persons
with disabilities
* Collaborate with state vocational rehabilitation agencies and their partners on a wide
range of activities related to enhancing services and supports for persons with
disabilities
* Monitor and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of technical assistance and skills
training activities and make changes as necessary
* Ongoing review and dissemination of the most effective practices related to the
employment of people with disabilities
* Prepare written reports as determined by the project
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
* Master's Degree in rehabilitation or closely related field preferred. Bachelor's degree
plus an extensive history of demonstrated leadership experience in the rehabilitation
field may be considered
* At least 5 years of experience
* A high level of knowledge on best practices related to community employment for
persons with disabilities

* A high level of understanding of the vocational rehabilitation system, community
rehabilitation programs, funding and operations
* Exceptional relationship building and change management skills
* Successful proven history working and influencing change in regard to increasing
community employment and full community participation for persons with disabilities
* The ability to travel (sometimes extensively) throughout Region 7 (Missouri, Iowa,
Kansas and Nebraska) is required
* Expertise in instructional design methodologies and practices
* Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are
essential
* Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently
* The ability to use technology (computers, projectors, Microsoft Office)
POSITION LOCATION:
MU's Disability Policy and Studies is located in Columbia, Missouri. It is preferred that the
successful candidate resides in Missouri but, consideration will be given to candidates
residing in other states of this region (Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska).
COMPENSATION:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
