CLASS SPECIFICATION 

 

CLASS TITLE: REHABILITATION FIELD SUPERVISOR CLASS 

CODE: M066

CLASS SUMMARY 

 

The Rehabilitation Field Supervisor works under supervision and is responsible 

for planning and coordinating field service operations and monitoring and 

evaluating service delivery. This position is governed by state and federal 

laws and agency policy. 

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK 

 

1. Supervises a large professional staff by interviewing and recommending for 

hire, assigning and reviewing work, training employees, resolving work 

problems, and evaluating the performance of incumbents. 

 

2. Plans, coordinates, and directs work activities. Establishes operational 

priorities, coordinates operations with other functions within and outside 

the division, and ensures program objectives are established. 

 

3. Monitors and evaluates the service delivery of programs by reviewing 

client case files for documentation, ensuring clients receive adequate 

services, analyzing program effectiveness, and recommending improvements 

and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. 

 

4. Coordinates services with other human service agencies and other 

organizations by resolving common service delivery problems, referring 

clients to other services, and providing information to groups and 

organizations. 

 

5. Develops and recommends staff, material, and equipment needs and case cost 

allotments for the field service programs managed. Monitors and approves 

expenditures for client services rendered. 

 

6. Consults with and advises staff and outside organizations on policies, 

procedures, and guidelines and identifies the characteristics and impact 

of work problems and formulates possible solutions. 

 

7. Recommends and implements new and revised policies and procedures and 

interprets state and federal laws to respond to changes in program needs, 

objectives, and priorities and to improve the effectiveness of the 

programs. 

 

8. Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned. 

 

REHABILITATION FIELD SUPERVISOR (CONT.) 

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS 

 

The Rehabilitation Field Supervisor has regular contact with agency personnel, 

providers, and physicians. Occasional contact with various school officials, 

patients, and the general public is required. 

 

SPECIAL JOB DIMENSIONS 

 

Frequent in-state travel is required. 

 

KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS 

 

Knowledge of principles and practices of counseling, rehabilitation case 

management, and service delivery systems. 

Knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel and fiscal management. 

Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of others. 

Ability to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services. 

Ability to interpret and apply state and federal laws, regulations, and 

policies. 

Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written technical information 

and reports. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

 

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in psychology, 

sociology, or a related field; plus four years' experience in rehabilitation 

counseling vocational rehabilitation service delivery, or similar area 

including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity. 

 

Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or 

part of these basic requirements upon approval of the Qualifications Review 

Committee.
