Hello,

The Chicago Lighthouse for People Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired is
partnering with an organization called Global Explorers
<http://www.globalexplorers.org/> to offer an unparalleled adventure
and learning opportunity for students who are visually impaired or
blind. This summer, the Lighthouse will be inviting five blind or
visually impaired students and five sighted students to join us on our
first-ever Mexico Volcano Expedition. While in Mexico City, youth from
The Chicago Lighthouse will be working with a group of visually impaired
students from a local organization called Ojos que Sienten while
learning about Mexican culture and climbing one of Mexico's famous
volcanoes with Erik Weihenmayer <http://www.touchthetop.com/> , the only
blind man to summit Mt. Everest.

I'm happy to report that it's not too late for youth to sign up for this
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! We still have TWO spots available for
visually impaired or blind students between the ages of 14 and 19.

If you know a young person who you think might be interested in this
leadership development adventure, please feel free to pass this
information along. I've attached a flyer as well as a press release and
nomination form. (All of these materials are also available in Braille
and screen reader-friendly versions if you'd like.) The Chicago
Lighthouse is working with Global Explorers to develop fundraising
opportunities that will help to supplement the cost of the trip so that
no student will be turned away because of a family's inability to pay.

For more information, please visit www.globalexplorers.org and click on
Leading the Way. You or your students may also feel free to contact me
at Kelsey.thompson at chicagolighthouse.org or by phone at 312-666-1331
ext. 3089 with any additional questions or concerns about the program.

Thank you!

hKelsey
