For a number of years, the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN has
worked with blind people. Charlene Guggisberg (formerly Childrey), who
works here at BLIND, Inc. was trained as an occupational therapy assistant
by them, and then went on to work at the Mayo Clinc. The only blind physical
therapist I know of is Milo Waddoups, who graduated from the Iowa center
years ago and worked as one for a number of years. The last time I talked
to him, he worked for the agency for the blind in Utah, in the southwestern
section of the state (St. George, I think). Charlene can be contacted at
BLIND, Inc. E-mail her at cguggisberg at blindinc.org. Phone is 612-872-0100.
I don't have contact information for Milo, although I imagine the Utah
agency either has his office number listed on its website or can give it to
you. Maybe he's on this list and will see this message.

A question you all- do any of you know of a blind physical therapist? I am
working with a young guy that has some usable "low vision" and is interested
in taking a course of study to become a PT. Are there any challenges that
this guy needs to be aware of "now," so that he can make the best decision?
Is there some one around that he can do an informational interview with? I
and Aaron will be very grateful for any assistance you can provide.

(If you wish to call, my work number is- 402-595-2143)
