Description of Vacancy's Duties :
The Office for the Blind is seeking a Facility Administrator to oversee
the operations of the Charles McDowell Center in Louisville. The
McDowell Center in Louisville is a rehabilitation facility dedicated to
assisting blind and visually impaired individuals achieve success in
employment, training and independent living.
The Facility Administrator will be responsible for the overall
responsibility for the operation of, and services provided by, the
McDowell Center. The Facility Administrator
will:
- ensure programs are progressive and effectively help clients obtain
employment and independence;
- ensure client care is in compliance with state and federal statutes;
- administer, plan, coordinate & direct the activities of professional
staff;
- analyze and direct resource allocation;
- coordinate activities in the areas of budget, personnel, food service,
maintenance;
- collaborate with other government agencies, educational institutions
and consumer service providers.
- interpret local state & federal laws as necessary; develop and enforce
office policy and procedure.
Selection Method :
Qualifying: All candidates who apply and meet the minimum requirements
are eligible for placement on the register for hiring consideration.

Characteristics of the Class :
Supervises all administrative and/or program services for a state BH/DID
or rehabilitation facility; and performs other duties as required.
Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements :
Work is performed primarily in a medical, clinical or rehabilitation
facility. May be exposed to disease and other hazards associated with
the medical, psychiatric, or rehabilitation profession.
Additional Requirements :
Applicants and employees in this classification may be required to
submit to a drug screening test and background check.
