[rehab] problem

There is an optional category in Medicaid for working disabled. States can decide to open it, or not. In Arkansas, consumers can make up to 300% of the federal poverty level before they lose their Medicaid, even if they no longer receive any SSI. (Something else to check into in your state.)

RJ,
Go to http://www.ssa.gov/redbook/, which addresses in detail all SSDI and
SSI work incentives. Jan was making reference to the Work Incentives
Connection in Minnesota, but I am not sure every state has one of them.
Generally you can get Medicaid as long as you are on SSI, but I am sure it
would be a good idea to talk to the people who administer the program in
your county, or on the state level. I think Medicare can continue for
five years after you get a job and go off SSDI. You must earn over
$19,600 a year, after expenses, to lose your SSDI, so if you want to
continue your benefits, just earn less than that amount. SSI tapers off
gradually as your earnings go up, so earning $19,600 may not end your
benefits.

See if your state has a work incentivews program. They can analyze your
situation, look at all your benefits, and tell you, in advance, what will
happen to your benefits if you go to work. They can work out several
scenarios such as full time and part-time work.
