Lisa, to the best of my knowledge and belief, Medisoft IS NOT accessible out
of the box. Extensive scripting will be required to make it so.

It has been a while since I played with Medisoft; it's possible that it
newest incarnations may hold promise! However, judging by what transpires
in the said industry, I seriously doubt it!

To be a good medical coder, you will need to have access to ICD9CM or
ICD10CM. The codes you enter are what will be used to generate the bill in
a hospital or doctor's office setting. Extensive knowledge of disease
classifications will be important. For example, diabetes is 250.00 and it
breaks down from there--250.01, 250.02, and so on.

Both ICD9CM and ICD10CM may be available on CD, but I don't ever recall
seeing an accessible one. Before delving in, see if you can use the
Internet to search for disease classifications as this may wind up being
your best option.

Finally, HCPCS and CPT codes will come into play for billing insurance,
Medicaid and Medicare. If you need help with HCPCS and CPT codes, please
contact me privately via EMail at:

Good luck and all the very best!!
