Lead REHABILITATION COUNSELOR
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Rehabilitation Team Leader
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Job Services, case managers and Rehabilitation
Counselors
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· Certified rehabilitation counselor, or
· Licensed Clinical social worker, or
· License Clinical Counselor
· At least three years directly working with individuals who are
blind or visually impaired
· At least 3 years providing rehabilitation counseling, and
vocational services
· At least 1 year experience providing supervision
· Excellent organizational and program development skills.
· Excellent public speaking and written and verbal communication
skills
· Highly energetic, dynamic and self directed
· Ability to incorporate one's theoretical counseling approach within
a time limited session structure, as well as within the client/counselor
contract.
· Strong relationship building skills
· Ability to work autonomously and with a team utilizing problem
solving, critical thinking skills
· Strong teamwork and ability to incorporate macro and micro systems
simultaneously
BASIC JOB SUMMARY:
The Lead Rehabilitation Counselor is responsible for implementing vocational
rehabilitation-counseling services for SAAVIs participants. The counselor
will provide age appropriate Vocational evaluations and assessments as well
as individual and group disability adjustment counseling to blind/visually
impaired transition and adult aged individuals. Additionally, the Lead
Rehabilitation Counselor is responsible for supervision for all job
services, staff, social workers/case managers, and rehabilitation
counselors.
