Arizona is recruiting for 6 Rehabilitation Instructional Services Specialist
(RISS) statewide positions. RISS can be Orientation and Mobility instructors
(O&M) or Vision Rehabilitation Therapists (VRT). The Positions are located
in four different geographical areas in Arizona, Coolidge, Douglas,
Flagstaff, and Phoenix.

Rehabilitation Instructional Services Specialist works under the general
supervision of the RAES Assistant Manager, teaching independent living
skills (O&M, Home Management, Personal Management, Communications, plus
orientation and adjustment to blindness as well as the provision of adaptive
aids and devices.  More specifically, interviews applicants, evaluates
needs, determines feasibility, plans, and presents individualized
instructional/adjustment program, and develops alternative teaching methods
to aid a broad range of blind and visually impaired persons.

Applicants must have:
Vision Rehabilitation Therapist:  
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy, Special
Education, Gerontology, Social Work, Education, Counseling, Sociology, or be
a Teacher for the Visually impaired, and must achieve certification as
provided by the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and
Education Professionals (ACVREP), within 6 months of employment or at the
end of probation as an RSA Rehabilitation Instructional Services Specialist.

Orientation and Mobility Specialist:  
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Orientation and Mobility or other areas,
and a certificate in Orientation and Mobility from an accredited university,
and must achieve certification as provided by the Academy for Certification
of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP) or the
National Blindness Professional Certification Board
