Greetings,

VA Puget Sound has a current posting on USA Jobs for a VRS to run our IT program at the VA Medical Center in Seattle. The posting closes 1/2/2015.

We will also have 2 additional postings coming up in the next week or so. One is for a VRS for our SE program in Seattle, and the other is for two  VRSs for our CWT program. One in Seattle and one at American Lake. The IT and SE positions are GS-11s, while the VRSs for CWT are 5-7-9s.

We are looking for highly skilled, motivated people to join the CRS team at VA Puget Sound.

DUTIES:
The position is part of Community Reintegration Services and the incumbent serves as the Incentive Therapy (IT) Coordinator. The purpose of the position is to provide the opportunity for persons with severe disabilities to participate in therapeutic work.The IT Program primarily provides therapeutic work opportunities for patients who are not currently capable of obtaining or maintaining competitive employment, but are interested in a structured work activity.The principle duties and responsibilities include: administrative oversight of the incentive therapy program in Seattle; conducting IT Program initial assessments and developing service delivery plans; providing case management services to active IT Program participants; conduct and administer discharge planning for IT Program participants; assists persons with disabilities in preparing for or obtaining employment; provides individual career/counseling to persons with disabilities; coordinates and provides services to eligible individuals necessary to accommodate their disabilities and obtain employment; obtains services from other community agencies for people with disabilities; and provides job placement, post-employment, and follow-up services.

Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement [or insert date as determined by the facility merit promotion policy].
Time-in-grade:Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. Applicants applying for the GS-11 level must have held grade GS-9 or higher for at least one year to be eligible.
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Work that required obtaining and applying occupational information for people with disabilities, knowledge of the interrelationships of the involved professional and specialist services, and skill in employing the methodology and techniques of counseling to motivate and encourage individuals served by the program; Experience that demonstrated knowledge of the vocational rehabilitation problems characteristic of the disabled, including familiarity with available resources and skill in identifying, evaluating, and making effective use of such resources to serve individuals with disabilities; or of the disadvantaged, including knowledge of adjustment problems of the educationally or culturally disadvantaged, familiarity with available adult education and training resources, and ability to recognize problem areas needing special attention; Experience in vocational guidance or teaching in a recognized vocational rehabilitation program or school, developmental or supervisory work in programs of vocational rehabilitation or training programs for the disadvantaged, or personnel or employment placement work that provided extensive knowledge of the training and adjustment requirements necessary to place persons having disabilities or social adjustment problems.
You will be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics (KSAOs) as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:
1)Knowledge and experience in vocational rehabilitation counseling, procedures, processes, and techniques.
2)Knowledge of a wide variety of conditions that interfere with a person's ability to be vocationally successful.
3)Knowledge and experience in completing comprehensive initial assessments and the development of individualized service delivery plans.
4)Knowledge and experience in therapeutic work case management including experience establishing appropriate work settings, assistance with employment retention and problem resolution.
5)Ability to provide discharge planning to program participants.
