Greetings,

The New Mexico Commission for the Blind Orientation Center is seeking a motivated individual to join our team and provide instruction in cane travel using the structured discovery method of teaching. The Orientation Center holds the highest levels of certification offered by the National Blindness Professional Certification Board, NBPBC, and the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities, CARF. Our Center provides individualized instruction using the Structured Discovery model of teaching. With an average of ten to twelve students, a mentoring program, and weekly community based activities, staff and students function as a large family. Our team of instructors is skilled and knowledgeable in our seven training areas and has been described as enthusiastic, energetic, and solidly grounded in positive philosophy believing that blind people truly can achieve their goals of living and working independently.

Under clear blue skies, Alamogordo is nestled in the Tula Rosa Basin surrounded by the majestic Sacramento Mountains. The area offers a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, snow skiing, Han gliding, hot air ballooning, horseback riding, and sand sledding year round. Las Cruces and El Paso provide access to shopping and entertainment without the headaches of living in a large city.
