Functional Vision Specialist (RI) 
compensation: Rate of Pay: TBD

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide instruction services to blind and visually impaired clients that
are working towards increasing daily living activities and obtaining and/or
maintaining employment. Activities include assistive technology training and
troubleshooting, Braille instruction, keyboarding training, communication
skills and supports, and daily living activities. Complete progress notes,
obtain equipment quotes for clients, and evaluate needs of individual.
Specific assistive technology and software knowledge include screen reader
and magnifier software, low vision and blindness devices, window based
computers, and Apple products. 
Work in collaboration with other agency rehabilitation professionals and
outside supports. The goal is to assist clients in maximizing their
independence in daily living and develop skills towards employment. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred and/or
specialization in rehabilitation teaching of the blind. Specialization in
Assistive Technology or any substantially equivalent education and
experience.
Advanced study or certifications in Assistive Technology desired. Experience
with teaching the above software and technology as well as knowledge of
Microsoft and Apple Applications. Individual must possess strong boundaries
and rehabilitation teaching skills that can support the individual they are
teaching. Experience with specialized teaching techniques for blind and
visually impaired persons
This employment is for a responsible person providing rehabilitation
teaching to blind individuals in a public or private setting
