JOB DESCRIPTION:



The Department for the Blind (IDB) is seeking a dynamic leader with a
proven track record to direct the Business Enterprise Program (BEP). This
position provides the administrative, operational, financial and training
oversight for the operation of the BEP unit and assures the program is
operated in accordance with the Randolph Sheppard Act and associated
federal regulations.

*Duties and responsibilities to include the following:*

Providing direct supervision to BEP staff, serving as a member of IDB’s
management team and participating in planning and policy decisions that
affect the entire Department.

Providing ongoing management assistance to twenty blind food service
managers and responding to questions regarding daily business operations.

Evaluate prospective trainees; coordinate, arrange and participate in all
aspects of the trainee/trainer interaction, update training curriculum on a
consistent basis, write progress reports, and recommend certification of
competency to manage a food service facility.

Serve as Department liaison and fulfill numerous Department
responsibilities with the Elected Committee of Blind Vendors in regard to
the development of program policy, transfer and promotion of blind
managers, grievance intervention, and mutual planning of ongoing education
opportunities for trainees and managers.

Negotiate and monitor contracts with building authorities as was as
managers of food service facilities to ensure customer satisfaction,
provide ongoing collaboration, make facility changes, and alleviate
complaints.

Control an annual budget of $400,000

Develop corrective action plans for managers in areas such as customer
service, sanitation, tax compliance, and accounting/bookkeeping. Recommend
probation or removal of manager if needed.

*EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:*

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university and the
equivalent of four years of full-time professional level experience such as
program administration, development, management or operations;

OR

Substitution of experience of the caliber and scope indicated above for the
required undergraduate college education on the basis one year of
qualifying experience is equivalent to one year of undergraduate education;

OR

Substitution of twenty-four hours of graduate level course work in a
special program curriculum such as Rehabilitation, Law, Education,
Engineering, or Public or Business Administration for each year of the
required experience to a maximum substitution of two years.

checks on all finalist candidates prior to any offer of employment.
