Position:       Regional Representative – Mid Atlantic Region (NY, NJ, PR,
VI)

Location:       Sands Point, NY



Through coordination of services, as well as community education and public
awareness, the Regional Representative has the following duties and
responsibilities for this covered region:



   - Serve as the point of entry for HKNC and state services


   - Serve as an advocate for deaf-blind youths and adults and their
   families
   - Provide support to deaf-blind youths and adults and their families in
   their efforts to maximize independence and opportunities in their home
   community
   - Identify deaf-blind youth and adults within his/her assigned states
   - Assist with or provide an initial needs assessment
   - Assist with planning, implementing, securing and/or coordinating, and
   evaluating appropriate services. (These services may include, but are not
   limited to, evaluation and training at Helen Keller National Center and
   back home follow-up.)
   - Offer/provide technical and program consultation to various agencies,
   organizations and associations within his/her assigned states. (These may
   include, but are not limited to, developing specialized services for
   deaf-blind youths and adults.)
   - Performs other duties as assigned by Administration or Supervisor.



Full time – 35 hours per week



Individual must be a self starter, have the ability to work independently
while being a strong team player. Strong written and communication skills
required. Position requires significant travel throughout states assigned.



*Education and Experience: *Master’s Degree preferred in Rehabilitation
Counseling or a closely related degree. Preference given to an individual
with five or more years full-time vocational rehabilitation work
experience with individuals who are Deaf Blind. Fluency in American Sign
Language and English. Counseling and advocacy skills required. Familiarity
with Braille beneficial. Strong PC skills required.
