Division of Rehabilitation Services
Director, Services for the Blind, Visually Impaired, Deaf and Hard of Hearing
The TN Department of Human Services, Division of 
Rehabilitation Services is currently accepting 
resumes for the position, Director of Services for the
Blind, Visually Impaired, Deaf and Hard of 
Hearing. As a member of the TDRS leadership team, 
the Director is responsible for the day to day operations
of several programs in the sensory areas, 
including the Older Blind Grant, Independent 
Living Services, Tennessee Business Enterprise Program, the Tennessee
Council for the Deaf Deaf-Blind and Hard of 
Hearing and the employees who deliver vocational 
rehabilitation services to Tennesseans who are blind, visually
impaired, deaf, deaf-blind and hard of hearing.
The position requires a comprehensive knowledge 
of the Randolph-Shepard Act, The Workforce 
Innovation and Opportunity Act as well as federal and state
regulations related to the Vocational 
Rehabilitation Program. The Director must have 
experience evaluating and analyzing projects, programs, and financial
information to evaluate effectiveness and 
efficiency for accountability towards service 
delivery. He or She also must have a demonstrated ability to establish
and maintain sustainable working relationships 
with individuals, committees and groups from a diverse background.
Minimum Qualifications

 Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation 
Counseling OR closely related field with emphasis 
in deafness, blindness or rehabilitation teaching
ï‚· Three years of related supervisory experience 
in either vocational rehabilitation, 
rehabilitation teaching, Business Enterprise Program or an area closely
related to the job description
ï‚· Experience managing large budgets, contracts 
and provider agreements in the public sector

Preferred Qualifications

ï‚· Certification as a Rehabilitation Counselor, CRC
ï‚· Nationally recognized certification in 
Deafness, Rehabilitation Teaching or Blindness
ï‚· Five or more years supervising in the field of Rehabilitation Counseling

The Director will be required to travel 
occasionally on a statewide and national basis. 
The office is located in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Salary
is commensurate with qualifications, experience
