Responsibilities
The
Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS)
is seeking an individual to oversee effective and efficient delivery
of statewide services for persons who are blind/visually impaired, deaf/hard of hearing, or deaf/blind as a Services for the Blind,
Visually Impaired and Deaf (SBVID) Manager. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Monitor, evaluate, and report on Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) services, and assist with contract development
-
Monitor all staff development, competencies, and specialized training
-
Develop, or participate in the development of best practices, policies, and procedures for RSA programs as they relate to SBVID programs

Knowledge of best practices, and philosophy related to blindness, deafness and the deaf/blind

Participate in RSA Management Team meetings/activities, and represent RSA in meetings and work groups with the community and other DES programs

Act on behalf of the SBVID Program manager in his/her absence
- Responsible for providing direct supervision to SBVID supervisors

Qualifications

Knowledge of Vocational Rehabilitation, Independent Living Services and the Business Enterprise Program
-
Knowledge of community blindness, deafness and deaf-blind advocacy groups
-
Skill in writing technical federal and state reports, and communicating effectively with staff and the public
-
Skill in coordinating SBVID activities including meetings, training, office remodeling, presentations, etc.
-
Skill in performing supervisory and managerial tasks
-
Ability to plan and organize multiple work tasks, and coordinate activities of subordinate staff
-
Ability to interact with the public, provide presentations and information, conduct program evaluation and think analytically
-
Master's Degree in Rehabilitation or Public Administration, and three years of relevant work experience highly desired
