*Department of Multi-Generational Learning*
*Full Time*
*The Job*
The Family Learning Associate advocates for and supports family and
inter-generational learning opportunities throughout the museum. This
position is an educator and creative leader who will direct the vision and
strategy for family learning at the museum. This position designs, plans,
and implements family programs, including Family Day, Family Night Out, and
community partnership programs. This position also maintains Mia’s Family
Center and related activities.
*In this role, you will…*
· Produce the museum’s monthly Family Day event, comprising a wide
variety of family programming in the studios, galleries, and performance
spaces that address the broad range of the museum’s collections and
exhibitions, and promote access and equitable participation.
· Establish strategic relationships with community stakeholders and
organizations to advance the reach and impact of current offerings and to
co-create timely and relevant programs.
· Create opportunities for family-based or
inter-generational learning in the gallery and studios, focusing on Mia’s
Learning Framework skills—critical thinking, global awareness, creativity,
empathy—to create activities and resources that inspire children and adults
to explore and learn from the museum’s collection and one another.
· Manage Mia’s Family Center and its inventory of developmentally
appropriate toys, books, accessories, and furniture.
*Specific Requirements*
· BA in education/art education preferred or demonstrated
equivalent experience required.
· Knowledge of a broad range of periods and styles of art and
culture, and educational methods and teaching practices.
· Minimum three years of related work experience with youth or
family audiences.
· Experience building relationships and collaborative programming.
· Command of Microsoft Office and Google suite.
· Proficiency in languages other than English desirable.
· Ability to move and position art materials and equipment up to 25
pounds.
