Description
The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Division of Blind Services is seeking a Facility Administrator for the Charles W. McDowell Rehabilitation Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

The McDowell Center is a twenty-four hour residential and day student facility committed to assisting individuals who are blind and visually impaired achieve their educational, vocational, and independent living goals. Training components offered at the center include braille instruction, orientation and mobility, assistive technology, adult education, career development, life skills and personal development.

Duties of the Facility Administrator include, but are not limited to, the following:

  *   Directs the operation of, and has overall responsibility for the running of the rehabilitation center. Oversees various full-time staff positions located at the facility in addition to temporary staff.
  *   Ensures customer service policies and safety procedures conform to state and federal regulations.
  *   Administer, plan, direct, and evaluate activities of personnel and programs within the facility.
  *   Manages and monitors resource allocation to ensure sufficient funding, personnel, space, equipment and other resources are available for the continuous operations of the center.
  *   Plans and coordinates administrative services necessary to the facility operation including the areas of personnel management, budget, food services, maintenance, and ensuring the proper use of funding and tracking of expenditures to implement processes to improve efficiency.
The successful candidate for this position needs to have:

  *   A strong working knowledge of rehabilitation services for individuals who are blind and/or visually impaired
  *   Strong leadership skills
  *   Excellent oral and written communication skills
  *   Ability to work without supervision and critical thinking/problem solving abilities.
Experience in management or supervision, working with budgets, interpreting laws and regulations, and developing policies and procedures is highly preferred.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.



EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Five years of professional experience in public or business administration, hospital administration, rehabilitation administration, or a related field, or requisite skills. The experience, training, or skills requirement cannot be met with only requisite skills.



Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE



Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in public or business administration, hospital or rehabilitation administration or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.



SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Condition Work is performed primarily in a medical, clinical or rehabilitation facility. May be exposed to disease and other hazards associated with the medical, psychiatric, or rehabilitation profession.
Probationary Period
