Job Description
The Assistant Regional Manager will provide management assistance to field offices within the region.  Supervision will consist of managing a cross section of specialized services that include vocational rehabilitation, supported employment, pre-employment transition services. The Assistant Regional Manager is also responsible for monitoring accommodations for professional staff in the execution of their job duties.

The Assistant Regional Manager's acts as liaison to the Regional Manager in the monitoring of federal standards and indicators that provides the basis for the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) reports. The Assistant Regional Manager along with the Regional Manager is involved in generating local revenue used to leverage federal funding.

The Assistant Regional Manager is responsible for independent decision making with limited consultation. Extensive independent judgment is needed to adapt policies and to develop and implement new approaches to business and administrative activities (i.e. Interagency Cash Transfer Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding).

The Assistant Regional Manager serves as an affiliate to both state and non-state agencies and organizations including, workforce development partners, community mental health partners, intermediate school districts, social security administration, centers for independent living, community rehabilitation organizations, Native American organizations, Michigan Department of Education, Health and Human Services, etc.

The Assistant Regional Manager manages work site fiscal and personnel activities. Thorough and extensive knowledge of vocational rehabilitation policy and procedures is required to be effective in this position; particularly as it relates to implementation of Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act regulations including Pre-Employment Transition services within the region and connections with Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act core partners as identified under the unified state plan.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a master's degree with a major in rehabilitation counseling, guidance and counseling, special education, social work, psychology, or occupational therapy.
Experience
Six years of professional experience equivalent to a Rehabilitation Services Coordinator, including four years equivalent to a Rehabilitation Services Coordinator P11.
OR
Five years of professional experience equivalent to a Rehabilitation Counselor, including three years equivalent to a Rehabilitation Counselor P11 or two years equivalent to a Rehabilitation Counselor 12.
OR
Three years of professional experience equivalent to a Blind Rehabilitation Instructor P11.
OR
One year of professional experience equivalent to a Vocational Rehabilitation Manager 13 or Rehabilitation Consultant 12.

Leave Time

Full time employees receive between 15 and 35 vacation leave days per year. Employees may invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount you want deducted from your paycheck.


Retirement

Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match that percentage (up to 3%).
