The LA SCHOOL FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED is seeking an
OUTREACH TEACHER (ORIENTATION & MOBILITY)
Please note: This position requires frequent travel possibly greater than
100 miles/day.

Physical Activity Level:
The employee must be able to perform assigned duties without significant

Orientation and Mobility as outlined in Part CXXXI, Title 28/Education;
Bulletin 746--Louisiana
Standards for State Certification of School Personnel; Chapter 4, Subchapter
A-410
. ACVREP OR NOMC Certification in Orientation and Mobility.
. Knowledge of appropriate skills in orientation and mobility and the use of
low vision aids.
. Must possess, or be willing to acquire, knowledge of and ability to apply
current standards-based educational practices associated with children who
are blind/visually impaired to a variety of settings.
. Knowledge of appropriate teaching methods in orientation and mobility and
other aids related to visual impairments/blindness.
. Must possess a current Driver's License and the ability to be certified
through the State Driver Safety Program.
. Must have access to reliable transportation to retrieve/return state
vehicles and/or rental vehicles in order to perform job duties. Must have
access
