I cannot say enough how much I appreciate your responses. I am one jaws user in a state agency that has no assistive technology specialist. Our ITS services are shared with various other agencies and also have no assistive technology specialist. Figuring out the technical stuff and knowing where to push can be challenging at times. I do not think I can do much as one individual, but if others are experiencing similar issues, we need to get together nationally and do the pushing together.

>> Hello, I appreciate your response. I have no trouble with combo boxes or layouts in Chrome. The combo boxes and layout menus are impossible with Internet explorer with my system. I have noticed that first letter navigation does not work in combo boxes even in Chrome if I accidentally arrow before I try first letter navigation. Lately it seems like Every new version of aware has its own glitches that need to be worked out. I have shown the sql error message to my agency liaison, ITS, and the Alliance help person. They have had that information for quite a while. The theories have been that it is a URL or connection issue. Fixing the URL reduced the number of incidents, but it is still happening. As far as the combo boxes go, I have noticed that you cannot use the alt down arrow to expand them as you used to be able to do. You either need to tab to them or you need to use the C to reach them and then press enter on them. Once you do that, you have to immediately press the first letter of the action that you want, or you have to arrow through. Once you have started Arrowing down, you cannot switch to the first letter to get to the option that you want. With the layout tab, I can press enter on it and then turn virtual PC cursor back on and then can arrow to the options that I want. Unfortunately, the alt shortcut keys are a known issue and they have been working on them with Google and jaws. We do not use aware for signing, so I can’t help on that issue. I also have not been experiencing the SQL errors, although I have been working from home also. When you get the errors, have you screenshotted it the error and sent it to whoever is in charge of liaisoning in between your agency and alliance? I know about the alt shortcut keys because I was just on a call this week with alliance and our liaison. > > Melissa Kane > First Vice President National Federation of the Blind of Missouri > Vice President National Federation of the Blind of Jefferson City > Sent from my iPhone > >> On Mar 12, 2021, at 10:52 PM, Deborah Allen via Rehab <rehab at nfbnet.org> wrote: >> >> Hello, I am using the most current version of jaws 2021. I will just list a few of the current problems. I switch between Internet explorer and chrome. I only use Internet explorer to sign because I have to. I do not use it for anything else. I have to use Internet explorer to sign in aware. However, I cannot change layouts or use combo boxes in Internet explorer. It takes some creativity to jump between the two and get things signed. >> When I started using Chrome and the new version of Aware, I stopped being able to read documents in the attachments. I have also had difficulty with getting stuck in subject fields while trying to enter subjects for case notes. The only way to get out is to cancel the case note and start over. >> >> >> another very aggravating issue has been going on since I started working from home. I randomly get errors when I try to save case notes and am unable to save the notes. When I get the error message, the Notes completely disappear, and I have to start over again. I have had to repeatedly re-enter casenotes over a dozen times before I can get them to safe. The error message says they are SQL errors. >> These are not all of the problems, but it is a sampling. I have found workarounds, but I would like the more accessible aware I had quite a while ago. By the way, I also miss the JAWS Hot keys in this new version of aware. My state is moving to using Edge, which I hope will resolve my problems in aware.
