You can tell a lab assistant, or the equivalent of a reader what to look for
under the microscope.
It is laso illegal under the ADA and title two if the school is a state
school to exclude or discriminate against your student.
I haven't done science, but I understood accommodations.
If your student has some sight, there might be adaptive equipment.
If they don't have any sight, you can try the first suggestions I gave you.
Check the JAN sight, for other accommodation suggestions. Jan stand for
job accommodation network.
Thanks,
Justin

Subject: [Rehab] veterinary tech program
Hello everyone,
One of our clients was discouraged by the department head and advisor at a
local college here in Arizona from pursuing a degree or career path as a
veterinary tech. Reasons that they sited were that the client would not be
able to look through a microscope and that this is a key component of the
certification testing process.
I feel that this is short sighted and that there could be work arounds for
this. I would appreciate connecting with others that feel the same way and
have had success in science related fields so I can share these resources
with the counselor and the client.
Sincerely,
*Dr. Brian Dulude Ph.D., CRC, NOMC*
