Career Conversations with Satauna Howery
Join us and meet Satauna Howery, an an award-winning American voice actor specializing in corporate and technical narration. Satauna cherishes her roles as “The Voice of Goddess” at the Tampa Airport, a Russian fortune teller teaching teens about budgeting and a Drill Sergeant for the U.S. National Guard.
Satauna has done quality control and voiced audio description for TV, corporate and government clients, including J.P. Morgan Chase and the National Institute of Health. Her television description credits include Seinfeld, Bill Nye Saves the World (Season 1), How to Build a Girl and many others.
Blind since birth, Satauna is a passionate supporter of braille and a firm believer in entrepreneurship as a means of self-sufficiency for people with disabilities.

Gross Motor Development Programming for Young Children with Visual Impairments
Young children with visual impairments must be intentionally taught foundational skills in order to be proficient movers. This session will review specific strategies to help children with visual impairments meet motor milestones.

Outdoor adventure has shown to be very beneficial for youth with visual impairments. Through outdoor adventure programming students can also acquire all components of the ECC. The programming must be modified to ensure proper skill acquisition, safety, socialization, and communication. Come to this workshop and learn how to include all children

Gross Motor Development Instructional Strategies
Children with visual impairments often miss specific instruction on specific foundational motor skills. Specific skills like running, batting, kicking, and rolling that are the foundation of many blind sports will be reviewed and demonstrated. Books, videos, tip sheets, and web sites will be shared for all attendees.
