Saavi Services for the Blind is seeking an Orientation and Mobility Instructor for it's Phoenix training Center Location
Want to teach cane training in 70-degree weather all winter?
Want to work with students of all ages in a creative environment

Then Saavi Services for the blind is looking for you.
Seeking a cane training instructor to
Essential Functions
* Evaluate the student's skill level and provide training based on their needs.
* Teach using Structured Discovery and NOMC-based approved methodologies
* Facilitate one-on-one and multi student environment lessons.
* Plan lessons geared towards transferability that students are able to take with them in their lives and future career goals
* Participate in outings where promotion of the cane and non-visual training is required.
* Provide direct instruction with travel and navigational applications.
* Teach the difference between different types of canes and promote a positive outlook of the usage of canes in the everyday life geared towards self-reliance and independence.
Requirements
* NOMC, COMS certification or equivalent
* Or have at least 5 years of experience in the field of teaching Orientation and Mobility, and willing to work towards their NOMC apprenticeship upon employment.
* Able to teach using structure discovery methodology,
* Experience teaching students with secondary disabilities and adapt the curriculum based on their needs including working with PT's, OTs, and other specialists.
* Able to demonstrate proficiency with a cane under learning shades.
Salary range is between $50,000-$57,000
