motion passed.

Icebreaker

What is everyone doing for Thanksgiving?

This led to a discussion of prices in general.

Dues

Dues in the amount of $15 per person for 2022 are due by the January
meeting. Please pay at your earliest convenience.

Ways to pay

Carmen reports that the chapter’s bank account now has access to Zelle.

Carmen and Paulina are still working on Pay-Pal access.

Carmen is still working on Establishing new signers for the chapter bank
account (hoping the problem with the secretary of states office has been
resolved)

Kelly is asking for a phone number or email address for people to Zelle to.

For Zelle use:

Riversidesb7 at gmail.com

A discussion about the ways people would like to pay their money to the
chapter ensued and carmen summarized how she has received money for the
chapter in the past.

 Venmo 2 people

Cash App 2 people

Apple Pay 2 people

Zelle 2 people

Once we establish it, if someone pays their dues using Pay-pal there will
be a fee of $.63 (that’s sixty-three cents)

Conventions

We discussed the state convention which everyone agreed was good.

At this time, the hope is that the next national convention will be in
person, but we should not expect news about that until sometime in January.

We discussed our auction basket selling for $110 at the state convention.

Legislation

Tippi has not heard from Tiffany Manosh regarding her state level committee
position so she will reach out again.

Tippi reports having contacted the offices of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck
Schumer via email regarding the Access Technology Affordability Act. This
sparked a discussion about chapter members contacting their
representatives and Senators in support of federation positions on
legislation.

Sunshine Committee

Tippi reports that there were no birthdays in November, but we have 3
members with birthdays in December.

Book Club and December meeting

The book that was recommended by Tippi in September is: Emma & I DB 11904
the author is Hocken, Sheila. The reading time is 5 hours, 14 minutes.

Barbara will contact Sylvia then they will publish this information on the
chapter email list.

December meeting

Carmen reported that the board is suggesting that we have a virtual social
meeting in December in lieu of our usual in-person holiday event which
usually takes place at a restaurant and that discussion of this book could
be one of the topics at that meeting.

We discussed current prices and conditions that have been observed in
restaurants lately.

Tippi asked if meeting at the *Janet Goeske Center an alternative is.*

Everyone present agreed that we will have a virtual social gathering on the
second Saturday of the month from 10:00am-12:00pm Pacific in December and
that discussing the current book will be part of that event.

presidential release

Someone asked about the shorter version of the presidential release that is
supposed to be available as a tool to facilitate discussion at chapter
meetings.

Carmen volunteered to investigate.

Rebrand of Meet the Blind month

We discussed ongoing efforts to rebrand meet the blind month. (Still in
process)

One possibility may be Equality Achievement month.

Chapter constitution

The version of the chapter constitution which the members approved in
September has been sent to the state and we are awaiting their approval.

Kelly asked about whether they would issue a new charter or just renew the
one that is already in place.

Carmen said they will probably renew the one that is already in place and
that we might be able to get it from the website. Carmen says she can ask
one of the national board members where we can find a copy of the charter.

Next Business meeting

Our next business meeting will be on January 8, 2022, at the *Janet Goeske
Center.*

Roster

The chapter roster must be updated to accurately reflect members based on
payment of dues and sent to Allison on the state board by January 30.

Kelly reminded that dues are due on or before the meeting on January 8th.

Elections

In even years the president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer are
elected.

We are due to elect board members currently.

Current board members are Sylvia Mitchel, Barbara Harrison, and Amanda
Winkler.

Sylvia Mitchel and Barbara Harrison have expressed interest in remaining on
the chapter’s board. Amanda Winkler is not seeking reelection or
appointment to the board currently.

Kelly asked if it is appropriate for Barbara to be elected to this board
position since she is already on the board as the treasurer and Carmen
assured us that this is fine.

Kelly moved that we reelect Sylvia Mitchell and Barbara Harrison by
acclimation. The motion was seconded by Tippi, and it passed.

Kelly nominated Tippi for the position of board member and she accepted.

There were no other nominations from the floor.

Kelly moved that Tippi be elected to the board and the motion was seconded
by Barbara then passed.

Tippi says she enjoyed the resolutions part of convention, and she is
excited to participate in this way.

We briefly revisited the topic of getting the information about the new
book and our meeting on December 11th out to the chapter email list.
Barbara wants to talk to Sylvia before publishing the information. Kelly
offered to publish the upcoming book club and meeting information once
Barbara has spoken with Sylvia unless Sylvia and Barbara want to send an
email about it to the list themselves.

Barbara will contact Kelly if they need or want help.

Code of Conduct

Carmen announced that recent changes to the code of conduct will be coming
into effect soon. National president Mark Riccobono is encouraging
everyone especially officers and leaders to read it again and to keep
themselves familiar with the material in it so that we continue to offer an
inclusive welcoming experience to everyone.

Please take time to Learn more about the code of conduct here.

https://nfb.org/about-us/history-and-governance/code-conduct

Discussion of the code of conduct led into discussion of how we represent
the National Federation of the Blind when interacting with others.

Carmen says that there is a letter introducing the Federation in the
membership toolkit that she can send to the list.

You can learn more about the work of the National Federation of the Blind
here:

https://nfb.org/about-us

Membership building Ideas here:

https://nfb.org/get-involved/membership-building

More on legislation

Carmen will be forwarding email from John Pare that contains information
about upcoming legislation to the chapter email list.

Kelly is going to find an efficient method of determining who people’s
representatives and senators are so we can help members know whom to direct
their advocacy efforts toward. He is further suggesting that we make this
information for each chapter member part of the roster.

Membership

Tippi asked how enactive members know that it is time to pay dues.

We brainstormed membership ideas including calling people who have
previously showed interest in the chapter after we get reestablished at the
senior Center.

Adjournment

Kelly moved that we adjourn. The motion was seconded by Tippi and passed.

Meeting was adjourned at 11:46am.
