Minutes from Rose City Chapter Meeting
Date: February 21, 2026Meeting started at                         10:30 am, ended at 12:30pm Location: Capital One Café: 625 South West Broadway, Portland, Oregon
• Attendees:  the meeting: President Barker, Treasurer Joy, Vice President Tracy, Secretary Jerry, Kirk, Ryan, Jeff, Rick, Alice, Jan, Mayra,  Uriah,  Desmond, Osmond, Julia, Karen, Carolyn, Nicholas
 
• Call to order: President Barker
NFB Pledge and Belief Statement=Rick Hamand
• Introductions / Ice breaker – Who’s new? Have you ever testified in front of a senator or in congress? If not: given the opportunity, what would you like to testify about in front of congress?
• Secretary nominations/ vote=Discussion about finding a fill-in secretary-no secretary elected during meeting.
Minutes: Discussion ways minutes will be taken in the future=issues and outcomes
• Motion to accept minutes by Nicholas, seconded by Jeff=motion passes
• Treasurers report: Joy=October 15th, 2025, balance $3317.20 deposit of $62.00 withdrawal of $112.00 ending balance of $3267.20
November 2025: withdrawal of $300.00 (NFB cane key chains)    deposit of $184.00 (fund raising and dues paid) ending balance  as of December 15th, 2025, $3151.20
December 2025 withdrawal $40.00  (2-months of PAC)with drawl 286.28 (hotel reimbursement from state convention) withdrawal ( $25.00 (paying chapter dues to affiliate) ending balance as of January 15th, 2026, $3086.92
January withdrawal $20.00   (PAC) deposit $20.00 (dues paid) ending balance $2779.92  as of February 15th, 2026
Motion to accept by Tracy, seconded by  Carolyn=motion passes
Secretary Jerry calls into conference line=update on health positive
Presidential Topics
• Follow-up on Committees= 2 Committees formed
Location search committee=members:  Mayra, Jeff, Tracy-Mayra head of committee
Fundraising/ activities committee=members: Rick, Julia, Joy-Rick head of   the committee

• Cottage Grove members seminar-March 6th-8th 2026=Transportation: Location of Vans=Loyd Center Double Tree Hotel turn around  at 1pm-$25.00 cost per passenger
• National convention-Austin Texas=July 3rd-8th 2026
Financial assistance letter due by March 6th , 2026
Jernigan scholarship for first time attendees
• Updates on Washington seminar outcomes-2 senators signed on the Affordability act bill
• Call in access:
no more conference calls=Zoom option begins next meeting  on March 21st , 2026      
Mayra will run Zoom and check on speaker
President Barker will check in with Stephanie for the Zoom code and access
