March consumer reports

Instant Pot today recalled 104,000 Gem 65 8-in-1 Multicookers because they can overheat and melt on the underside, posing a fire hazard.

The recall comes barely a week after Consumer Reports first reported<https://www.consumerreports.org/instant-pot/instant-pot-gem-8-in-1-multicooker/> that Instant Pot had asked owners of the Gem multi-cookers to stop using them while the company worked out a remedy.

At the time, Consumers Union, the advocacy division of Consumer Reports, urged Instant Pot to provide consumers with more specific instructions, and, if the problem turned out to be a safety defect, to quickly issue a recall.

“Now that the maker of Instant Pot has announced a formal recall, more people should get the information they need about the problem and the specific steps they need to take to stay safe,” says William Wallace, senior policy analyst for Consumers Union. “At the same time, the company should investigate whether safety issues are limited to just the recalled products—and if there are other products affected, it should expand its recall and its warnings to consumers.”

I have the instant pot with Bluetooth capability. It allows me to set the pressure level, choose various cooking capabilities and it’s totally accessible. I think that one is the best one. But that is just my opinion. Connie

Definitely get the Bluetooth one, the smart one, because then you can be in total control from your iphone. It costs more but it’s worth every penny, if you ask me.
