Tips, tricks, and troubleshooting help for controlling your Instant Pot by
voice through Amazon Alexa

Through the wizardry of home automation, Amazon's Alexa is now able to

Check out the Troubleshooting section below for more help with Setup.

How to Use

To ask Alexa to use your Instant Pot, you must use the command words
"pressure cook" or "cook."

You may also specify a length of time to cook for all programs except Rice.
For example, "Alexa, pressure cook for 10 minutes."

Specifying pressure level is optional. The default power level is high, but
you can specify high or low at the end of your command. For example, "Alexa,
cook soup for 25 minutes on low."

There are two exceptions:

* Rice is a special program with a set time and power level
that cannot be customized. The command is simply "Alexa, cook Rice."

* Yogurt will begin the fermentation cycle. It will default
to 8 hours, or you may adjust the time. For example, "Alexa, cook Yogurt for
10 hours."

Saute, Steam, and Multigrain functions cannot be triggered through Alexa.

If you have more than one Smart WiFi, you will need to specify the name of
the cooker you want to use. For example, "Alexa, cook cake for 20 minutes in
My Instant Pot."

To stop cooking before the program ends, you must use the cooker's name. For
example, "Alexa, stop My Instant Pot."

Troubleshooting

Before you link to Alexa

Your Instant Pot Smart WiFi must first be paired with the Instant Pot App on
your mobile device before you can connect it to your Echo device. Visit

https://instantpot.com/instant-pot-recipe-app-free-recipes/ to download and

Device name

When pairing your Instant Pot you are asked to choose a name for your
appliance. This is the name you will use in your voice commands. In the
voice command examples above, the name of given to the appliance would have
been "My Instant Pot".

You may give your Instant Pot another name through the Alexa App by going to
Devices, selecting your cooker, and tapping Edit Name.

What email address and password did I use to set up my Instant Pot App?

If you forgot what login you used to set up your Smart WiFi, you can find
the email address you used by going to Profile from the main menu of the
Instant Pot App. You can also reset your password here if you can't remember
what you used.

Which WiFi network?

Make sure your Echo device is using the same WiFi network as your Instant
Pot.

What if Alexa is having trouble discovering your Instant Pot?

If Alexa can't find your Instant Pot, try again. If you're still having
trouble, check the following:

* Is your Instant Pot powered on? Make sure it's plugged in.

* Is your Instant Pot connected to WiFi? Check for the WiFi
icon on the cooker's screen. Press the "Power Level" button to toggle WiFi
on and off.

* Is your Instant Pot on the same WiFi network as Alexa?

Controlling your Instant Pot through the Alexa App

If there is no Echo device nearby, you can use the Alexa App on your mobile
device to issue commands. Press the "Ask Alexa" button in the middle and
issue your commands. You do not have to say the wake word "Alexa" at the
start of your command if you use this button.
