I do really like the Black & Decker Talking Toaster Oven from Blind Mice Mart. It lets me know when it is preheated, I can check how much time is left, and different things. I will put the manual below. It may look complicated at first but it really isn't especially when you have the oven in front of you while reading directions. As you can see, there is a pattern to the buttons:

Cautions
Plug the oven into a properly grounded outlet to prevent possibility of electrical shock.
Never cut off the ground lug from the toaster’s power cord or use cheaters.
Do not use extension cords with this product.
Leave plenty of space around all sides of the oven for ventilation
Do not place anything on top of the oven.
This product is designed for countertop use, do not use this product for “built in” applications.
All surfaces of the oven will get very hot to the touch. Use caution when the oven is on.

Setup
When you first plug in the oven, it will say Version and then a number. The number is the software version. When calling for service, the technician may ask you for this number. Whenever power is lost and is restored, this phrase will be announced.

Keypad layout
There are 5 rows of buttons.
Top Row: Mode Buttons
Second Row: Temperature Buttons
Third Row: Cook time Buttons
Fourth Row: Start & Stop Buttons
Bottom Row: Volume Buttons

there is a special feature. If you press any of these buttons momentarily, the oven will announce the current setting. If you momentarily press the button again within 5 seconds, the setting will change to the next setting. After 5 seconds has elapsed, if you press the button again momentarily it announces the current setting. If you press and hold down any of these buttons (in any row except the fourth row, Start and Stop Buttons, the settings will auto increment (left button) or auto decrement (right button). All left hand buttons are “up” and all right hand buttons are “down”.

Before using the oven, set the volume level. Locate the lower most set of buttons. Use these buttons to set the volume level that is comfortable for you. Once you set the volume, you won’t need to press these buttons again unless there is a power outage.

The Black & Decker Talking Toaster Oven was designed to be as user friendly as possible.

Remember this when setting the oven to cook, TOP DOWN. Top Down means Set your cooking functions from the top row of buttons down to the Start Button! You will be setting the cook mode, the temperature and the cook time before pressing the start button.

Note: Always wait for the oven to finish talking before pressing other buttons, except in the case of auto increment or decremant functions.

Note- You cannot change the mode, temperature or cook time once the oven is running.

You must first press the stop button. If you press the stop button twice in a row, the cook time will be reset to 0.

You must always set a cook time when cooking. Having the oven on for an unlimited amount of time is not permitted.

If when you press a button, you hear a “ding” sound, this means that button is not available in current oven state.

The Black & Decker Talking Toaster Oven will announce the temperature one time once the oven has reached the cooking temperature that you set.

When the oven finishes a cook cycle or a timer cycle, it will chime 3 times, pause for 10 seconds and chime again 3 times. Press the stop button to cancel this reminder after the first annunciation.

The Convection fan only operates during the bake mode. It can be turned off. See “Convection bake vs bake” below.

If the oven fails to operate after being left in a very cold environment (below freezing) let the oven warm up to room temperature or at least above freezing before using it.

If the oven announces “error” followed by a number, unplug the oven, wait for 1 minute, then plug it back in. If it still announces an error, call ETS for service.

Buttons:
Mode Buttons (Top Row)
These buttons set one of 5 available modes. 1 Bake, 2 Broil, 3 Toast, 4 Warm and 5 Timer.

Note: whenever you change modes, the cook time will be reset to 0 and the temperatures will be set to their lowest corresponding levels.

Temperature Buttons (Second Row)
These buttons set the different temperatures available for the different modes.

The range of temperatures for all the oven modes are as follows:
1. Bake 200 to 450 degrees F in 25 degree steps.
2. Broil 250 to 450 degrees F in 100 degree steps.
3. Toast 250 to 450 degrees F in 100 degree steps.
4. Warm 125 to 175 degrees F in 25 degree steps.
5. Timer NOT APPLICABLE.

Note- in the timer mode, temperature cannot be set. You will hear a “ding” sound to indicate the setting is not available.

Time Buttons (Third Row)
These buttons set the cook time. Note- you cannot start the oven unless you set a cook time. The cook time is set as follows:
0-60 minutes in 5 minute increments
1-hour to 4-hours in 15 minute increments.
If your recipe calls for a longer time than offered, set the oven for two cook cycles.

Start Button (Fourth Row Left Button)
If you have set the mode, temperature and time correctly and press this button, the oven will announce the cook mode, temperature, cook time and then say “toaster oven on”. It will then turn on the heaters inside the oven.

If you press the start button During a cook cycle, the oven will announce the remaining cook time.

If cook time has not been set or there is no time remaining and the start button is pressed, the oven will announce “cook time not set, set cook time”.

Stop Button (Fourth Row Right Button)
You can pause a cook cycle by pressing this button once. The oven will announce “toaster oven off” and the time remaining. In the pause mode, you cannot change the cook mode, cook time, or temperature. You will hear a “ding” sound if you press any of these buttons while cooking is pause. If you press the stop button again the cook time will be reset to 0 and cook mode, temperature and time can then be changed.

Volume Buttons
There are 8 volume levels available on the Black & Decker Talking Toaster Oven. 8 is the loudest and 1 is the quietest. If power is lost the level will automatically default to level 3. Adjust the volume to a level that is comfortable for you.

Bake / Convection bake
From the factory, the oven is set to have the convection fan running when baking foods. This fan circulates warm air around the food speeding up cooking time and heating the food more evenly. You can turn on and off the convection fan by pressing and holding the stop Button for 7 seconds. The oven will announce the opposite of whatever it is currently set at. Press and hold the Stop Button again for 7 seconds to toggle the setting. It is advised that you set the cook temperature of the oven 25 degrees lower than your recipe calls for when using convection baking.

Broil and toast modes
In the Broil and toast modes, the goal is to brown the item being cooked. This is achieved by a combination of temperature and time. Some experimentation will be required to determine what combinations work best.

Frozen foods
It’s advised to cook frozen or cold foods longer at a lower temperature until the food is thawed. Then increase the temperature to finish cooking.

Pre-heat
For best results in bake, broil and toast modes, pre-heat the oven before putting food inside the toaster oven.

General Cleaning Instructions:

Before cleaning any part, be sure the oven is off, unplugged, and cool.
Always dry parts thoroughly before using oven after cleaning.
Do not use aerosol or spray oven cleaner.
Clean the glass door with a nylon pad, dish soap and warm water..
Do not use a spray glass cleaner.
Wash the slide rack with dish soap and warm water or in a dishwasher.
Wash the bake pan with dish soap and warm water. Use a polyester or nylon pad to minimize scratches.
Wash the sides with dish soap and warm water.

Cleaning the Oven Exterior

When cleaning the outside of the oven, make sure the oven has cooled completely.
Wipe the top and exterior walls with a damp cloth or sponge.
Dry thoroughly.

How to Clean the Crumb Tray

Dispose of crumbs and wash the tray in hot soapy water and dry thoroughly.

Helpful Cleaning Tip:

To refresh air inside oven, lay strips of orange or lemon peel on rack. Heat oven to 350F and bake for 30 minutes. Turn oven off and let stand until oven is completely cool. Remove peel.

Note: We strongly recommend that the bake pan/drip tray and the broil rack be washed by hand with hot water and dish detergent, as opposed to washing in the dishwasher. Washing these pieces in the dishwasher will cause them to discolor, but will not affect their functionality.

Toaster Oven Safeguards

Space around the Toaster Oven
It is important that you keep a minimum distance of at least 4 inches of space on all sides of the toaster oven
This will allow for adequate air circulation and also help prevent any possible damage.
A fire may occur if the toaster oven is covered or touching flammable material including drapes, curtains, walls, and other flammable materials when in operation or after, when still hot.
While operating, the toaster oven should be on a stable and heat resistant surface
NOT a cloth-covered surface
Do not place any item on top of the appliance while in operation

Bakeware
When cooking in a toaster oven, you can use: metal, ovenproof glass or ceramic bakeware without glass lids. Be sure food or container is at least 1 inch away from the top heating elements.
Do not place flammable materials like cardboard, paper, plastic, etc. in the oven.
If using ceramic or glass pans or dishes, make sure they are oven safe to avoid cracking.

Power Cord is too Short
A short power cord (or detachable power cord) is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
An extension cord may be used, providing the marked electrical rating of the cord is at least as great as the electrical rating of the grill. We recommend “appliance” *type extension cords. Ensure the cord is arranged so that it cannot be pulled on by children or tripped over.
Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces
To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs or appliance in water or other liquid.
When the oven is not in use, it is recommended to unplug or disconnect it from the wall outlet.

Using Aluminum Foil
Aluminum foil can be used on/around the food being cooked, and on/around the bake pan. However, be aware that using aluminum foil changes the heating characteristics of the oven and may lead to unpredictable results. Never use aluminum foil on the crumb tray, the floor, the walls, or along the entire rack. Doing so will cause overheating and improperly manipulates heat reflection, leading to poor results.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

1.Poor Toast Results
2. The Heating Elements are not Working
3. The Oven Exterior is too Hot
4. Toaster Oven Interiors/Coating
5. Toaster Oven Safeguards
6. Using Aluminum Foil

Trouble Shooting Guide tto-1

1.Poor Toast Results
Toaster Ovens providing poor toast performance are often not set correctly. Many models with 3 dials have a temperature dial, a mode dial, and a combination timer/toast shade dial. On these ovens, both the temperature dial and the mode dial must be set to "Toast" for optimal toasting performance. If either dial is not set to toast, toasting results will be less than ideal.

Toast too dark
If the toast is coming out too dark or overdone:
The setting on the toast is too high
If you are doing multiple batches/repeated toasting in the oven, select a shade slightly lighter than the previous setting.

2.The Heating Elements are not Working
Check to make sure that the appliance is plugged into a working outlet; try another outlet without using an extension power cord
Ensure both the temperature control dial and the timer are set.

If the heating elements are not staying on
The heating elements cycle on and off during baking, this is normal operation.
In the Broil mode, only the top heating element comes on.
Check that all knobs are set correctly for the functions you are trying to use.

3.The Oven Exterior is too Hot
Toaster ovens, like many cooking appliances, get hot when in use.
Items should not be stored or placed on top of or near the sides of the toaster oven.
Oven mitts or potholders should be used when touching any outer or inner surface of the oven.

4.Toaster Oven Interiors/Coating
All current toaster oven models have a zinc coated interior. Zinc coating is durable and contributes to heat and IR energy distribution. Non-stick coating was replaced with zinc coating for most models in the later part of 2011.

Hi list, since our old toaster oven stopped working now, does anyone have an idea where I can get a new one that's accessible and not the touchscreen type of toaster oven? I don't want to pay an exorbitant price but anything from, say, $70 to $100 would be more in my range, as long as it's pretty accessible. Thanks.

Peter
