The blades are very sharp but I have never been cut so far. Just make sure you are handling at the base and be careful placing in the dishwasher. I personally take my blended smoothie cup to the sink, unscrew the blade and run under water. If the dishwasher is not ready, I sit on a rubber mat I have near my sink. You can also replace the blade lid and buy or replace cups as much as you want. The big button is the one for smoothies. Make a card stating right to left and what the buttons are (you can also make a list with numbers next to the description and place a braille number labeling the actual button).<br><br>I have had several of the smoothie blenders that all die after six months to a year.
