[Social-sciences-list] Professionals represented on list?

Hi,
My first PhD was more practitioner focused. During this training, I had an
opportunity to do a little teaching as an adjunct instructor at another
school as my branch of our campus was only graduate students. When I did
this, I caught the teaching bug and realized I wanted to teach more than do
clinical work. Also, while working on my dissertation, I realized I loved
doing research. Thus, I opted to go for a second degree in order to bolster
these skills.

Yes, I did end up writing two complete dissertations. Since both were in
areas that were really interesting to me, I really enjoyed engaging in both,
and have to admit that I actually really enjoyed going through my second
defense. Mostly, this was because the topic was something I had not pursued
until beginning my dissertation work, and in seeing that I could
successfully and competently debate the issues being studied with my
defense committee all of whom were highly sited and regarded experts in
some aspect of my topic, was really confidence building.
With very warm regards,
Christine
