Attention all Goalball Athletes, Track/Field Athletes and Swimmers

Ages 12-19

 

The United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) is hosting the 2009 International Blind Sports Association (ISBA) World Youth and Student Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado, July 15-20, 2009.

 

For consideration to compete in this prestigious event as a member of Team USA, you must:

·        Be a current USABA member.

·        Be a US citizen.

·        Be able to be classified under IBSA’s rules (B1, B2, B3)

·        Be 12-19 years old (at least 12 and no older than 19 by July 15, 2009).

·        Be actively competing in your sport:  

o       If you’re a goalball player, you must be playing on a school or club team

o       If you’re a track and field athlete, you must be training and competing in track and field in school, or in a track or running club

o       If you’re a swimmer, you must be training and competing in swimming at school or in a swim club.

·        Send a written letter of intent to USABA by February 15, 2009 including, but not limited to:

o       Your 2009 and earlier goalball, track/field, or swimming accomplishments including results from previous tournaments or meets

o       The name of your goalball, track/field or swim club or team

o       A summary of your weekly training schedule and other athletic and personal achievements you’d like to share with us.

·        Attend the IBSA World Youth and Student Championships, July 15-20, 2009 in Colorado Springs to represent the United States of America, USABA and your team.

·        Complete all forms and follow the code of conduct.

 

The coaching staffs for your respective sports will evaluate and select athletes from your letters of intent; tournament and meet results and your commitment to training and competing in your sport on a regular basis.  The USABA Sports Technical Committee will make the final athlete selections by March 15, 2009. USABA may provide partial funding support to athletes based on past accomplishment and training efforts and potential for future success.  All interested candidates must send letters of intent to:
