Hi LM,
Nice bike! An entry-level Da Vinci is like an upper-level tandem from most
other manufacturers. They are one of the premium builders in the world, so
you did well. Did you know that Todd Schusterman, the founder of Da Vinci,
has a blind wife? I, too, prefer Campy shifters. You will have a ton of
gears with great shifting.
Independent pedaling is called either IPS or ICS, for independent coasting.
I have ridden a few bikes with this feature, but not enough to know what I
think of it. All my bikes are direct drive between me and the pilot. Da
Vinci does it the best. For fast turns, once the bike gets leaned over a
certain amount, keep your outside pedal in the down stroke. This will help
you brace yourself and avoid scraping your pedal on the pavement inside the
turn. You can start pedaling again after the bike comes up a little. When
accelerating out of a fast curve, I find myself making those little, engine
sounds from my childhood in my mind. It is too much fun.
The Thud-Buster seatpost is the best out there. I do not use any suspension
for my saddles, but have raced a Buster off road. They are well made and
work great.
Enjoy! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me on or off line.
Oh, the song I quoted in my previous post was "Roll Me Away", by Bob Seger.
Sorry about that, Bob.
Gotta 45 mile ride tonight for the solstice week. We start at 5, so it
should be 102 degrees. We are going to do a steak buffet afterwards, so I
will be chompin at the bit. It is a social ride, though, so I will have to
just chill, till the next episode. If anyone attacks off the front, though,
all bets are off.:) Remember Animal from the Muppet Show? Hammertime!
Well, we're runnin a little bit hot tonight.
I can barely see the road with the heat coming off...
Um, skip the next line...
She's runnin', I'm flyin'
Right behind in the rearview mirror now
Got the fearin', power steerin'
Pistons poppin', ain't no stoppin' now
Panama, Van Halen
Best,
Ron & the feeling hot hot hot bears

: We're very excited and impatiently waiting for our bike to arrive.

: Any questions?
