U.S. Men's and Women's Goalball World Championships Update


U.S. Women Go Undefeated, U.S. Men Finish Third in Pool Play



In today's Goalball World Championship action, the U.S. Men took care of
business against Belgium beating them 4-1.  In a touch match against the
defending Paralympic Gold medalists, China proved to be too much beating the
U.S. 7-5.  That lands the U.S. Men as the #3 seed out of Pool A and will
take on the #2 seed from Pool B, Spain.  The four teams moving on from Pool
A are #1 Iran, #2 China, #3 USA, #4 Algeria.  In Pool B, teams moving on are
#1 Lithuania, #2 Spain, #3 Sweden and #4 Brazil. 
 
The U.S. Women's Team has proved that they are in top form as they beat
Australia today 7-4 and emerged pool play undefeated.  The team is now the
#1 seed and will play Japan, the #4 seed in tomorrow's quarterfinal.  The
top four teams out of Pool X are #1 USA, #2 Canada, #3 Sweden and #4
Australia.  The top four teams out of Pool Y are #1 China, #2 Finland, #3
Denmark and #4 Japan.
